What Is an Escrow Payment?

An escrow payment is the monthly amount your lender collects to cover property taxes, homeowners insurance, and sometimes PMI/Mortgage Insurance and HOA/Service charges. Instead of paying large annual bills, you contribute a predictable monthly amount and the lender pays those bills when due.

Monthly Escrow ≈ (Annual Property Taxes ÷ 12) + (Annual Insurance ÷ 12) + Optional PMI + Optional HOA/Service charges
